The ‘Azzurri [blue team]’ and the ‘Ladies’

Football (American soccer) is undoubtedly Italy’s best loved sport, so this is the place to start! The Empoli Football Club, a city football club that boasts over 100 years of history, is currently ranking in the men’s Series A. The ‘Azzurri’, as the players of the city’s most popular team are called, train and play their matches at the Carlo Castellani Stadium. The women’s football team, the Empoli Ladies, also play in the highest-level football league and have achieved great success in recent years.

Beyond football

In women’s Series A and men’s Series B, we find the Empoli USE Basket (USE Rosa Scotti e USE Computer Gross). Basketball has gained a real foothold in Empoli in recent years, encouraging hundreds of young people and children to play this sport. Basketball matches are played at PalaSammontana (Via R. Martini, 66).

The athletes of the  Timenet Empoli Volleyball  team, on the other hand, play at the PalaAramini (Via delle Olimpiadi, 17).
